Cornish seafood and 99 Flake ice cream with Coast magazine!
Coast's Deputy Editor Alex Reece gives us her top seafood tips plus an amazing griddled scallops recipe from Mark Hix that's to die for!
What is your favourite foodie thing to do?
Probably having dinner at the Porthminster Café in St Ives – the combination of fresh Cornish seafood and Atlantic views is pretty hard to beat.
What is your favourite drink and meal?
I like real ale – something like an oyster stout from the Whitstable Brewery is my idea of heaven. And to eat: crab linguine, although obviously not with the stout!
Most indulgent sweet treat?
ChocolateNemesis at the River Café. Or, if I'm at the beach, a 99 Flake ice cream.
Favourite cooking ingredient for November?
In the November issue of Coast, we're running a lovely feature on the Morecambe Bay shrimp fishermen. I'm going to order some of their traditional potted shrimps, and experiment with stirring them into pasta.
Most incredible British Food hero?
I think it has to be Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, for his pioneering work this year on fish discards (see fishfight.net).
Most highly recommended online recipe?
I really enjoyed this when I interviewed Mark Hix at his restaurant in Lyme Regis: CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE
